World War One (known before 1939 as 'The Great War' ) has always been of great interest to me. Memorabilia of that time... veterans of the war itself, artifacts, period publications, memorials... were an integral part of my life throughout my adolescent and early adult years. Sadly, those veterans have now passed into history.

In July of 2007 whilst living in California, I had the idea of forming a World War One reenactment group. Coming from the county of 'Lancashire' in England, I looked at the choice of regiments available from my home county. After long hours of research, the 'Lancashire Fusiliers' became the regiment of my choice. As the USA is my second home, I chose the '2nd Battalion' of the Lancashire Fusiliers... and so, the dye was set. After a few short months had passed.. of putting out the word of my idea, I had my first recruits, and so... the  '2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (Great War Reenactment Group)' was born!

We... the 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (Great War reenactment Group) portray the British 'Tommy', namely the 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers of The Great War. Our impression is for the full span of the conflict, from...
'4th August 1914 -to- 11th November 1918', tailoring our individual impressions to suit the battle / event then being enacted. Striving to portray those members of the '2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers' as accurately as possible, our standards of 'Authenticity' and 'Historical Accuracy' were set high from the outset, and have been maintained as such to this day. Our uniforms, equipment, weapons and tactics, are representative of those used by the real life '2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers' between the years of 1914 to 1918... World War One, or.. the Great War (as it was then called).

The British Army of the Great War  was governed by a set system of standards and precedures called:- 'Kings Regulations'. It is by these 'King's Regulations', and all period publications pertaining to the British Army of the Great War period, that we govern ourselves by.

These 'King's Regulations' are our high standards.

A second period British Army publication, the 'Manual of Military Law', the British Armies interpretation of 'King's Regulations'.. is a further enhancement to our units impression.

The '2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers' (Great War Reenactment Group), do not have an 'oh, that will do' attitude. We carry out extensive research before any weapon, piece of equipment, uniform item, badge, or piece of documentation is accepted for use. If it did not exist at the time of the Great War, or was never used in any form by members of the real life '2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers' during the Great War... then you will not find it used by ourselves.

Membership Requirements:-
In order to be considered for membership, the individual must:
1)-  Be of '18' years of age, or older.

2)-  The individual, once passed for membership of the : 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (Great War Reenactment
        Group
), will then enter into a probationary period of '18' months. Within that period, the 'Recruit' (as he will then be known) must attend at least,
        either...
           a].. two trench battle events.
                  ..plus..
           b].. two living history events.
                   ..plus..
           c].. two trench maintenance days.
                  ..or..
d].. an acceptable combination of the above (pre-arranged - by appointment).

3)-  Whilst participating as a uniformed member of the : 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (Great War Reenactment
        Group
)... the individual must:-
a]  agree to abide by 'King's Regulations', the 'Manual of Military Law', and any period publications which are
in use during the relevant period of uniformed participation.
b]  agree to abide by, and act upon the orders / decisions given by the NCO's (Non-Commissioned Officers) of the 2nd
Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (Great War Reenactment Group).
c]  agree to remove all visible jewellery (with the exception of wedding rings).. including non-period watches.. and all
                 visible body piercings.
d]  agree to wear the hair, both facial (upper lip only allowed), and head... as worn during the Great War.

           Note!
Refusal of either.. c] or d] above, or both... could result in the individual being asked to leave the event. In cases of
repeated refusal, the individual could be expelled without notice (dependent upon the seriousness of the
                     circumstance
) from the 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (Great War Reenactment Group).

4)-  During the 'Recruits' 18-month probationary period, it must be seen to be obvious that he is actively acquiring at least
the basic uniform and equipment required (see: Uniform & Equipment 'Required' / Basic Scale).

Help in pointing the 'Recruit' to the correct vendors for items that are acceptable, and meet with the 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (Great War Reenactment Group) authenticity standards... will be given. To aid the 'Recruit' from making any unnecessary, and thus costly expense, we do request that no purchase is made before first consulting ourselves.
Kit for loan.
For 'Trench Battle' events, our group has available a limited number of items of 'kit' for temporary loan... in order to allow the newer unit member's to take part in such events whilst their individual impression is being put together. Due to the limited scope and quantity of these items, they are issued on a 'First come - First served' basis. therefore, it is the responsibility of the individual requiring to take advantage of this service, to make enquiries as early as is possible in order to reserve those items of 'kit' required. We do however reserve the right to offer the 'Kit for loan' to those wanting to take in 'The Great War' experience for the very first time, seeing 'Trench Battles' as a means to get a taste of what the hobby involves.
