In order to be an active participant in Living History events, or Trench Battles, you'll require a certain amount of 'Kit' (This is the term used for your uniform and equipment).

The 'Kit' required has been placed into three main sections = Basic, Advanced, Nice to have.

Basic...
This is the uniform, equipment and weapons of the British 'Tommy' of 1914 (as illustrated at left). His every day uniform, standard battle equipment (without the niceties which fill it), and the standard service rifle and bayonet in use during the period. It is the largest uniform and equipment section, and includes essential uniforms items specific to the '2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers'. This is our groups main impression, and that used for 'Early War' events (1914 to mid 1915), and 'Living History' events where we are in uniform and in contact with the general public.

Advanced...
These are the items of uniform and equipment required to upgrade the
individuals impression in order to participate at 'Trench Battle' events. A couple of these items of equipment are essential, for without them, the individual cannot take part.

Nice to have...
These items are not strictly essential for either of the above sections. They are however in line with the period scale of kit issued to the British 'Tommy' during the Great War period of 1914 - 1918, so can and do add that 'complete' feel / look to an impression. Some of our groups members have period originals for these items... used for display only at 'Living History' events.

Note!...
An important point to stress here, is that the individual is not expected to purchase everything required... all at once. It will take time to acquire the necessary items, for not everyone has an overweight bank balance to rival the 'Bank of England' -or- 'Fort Knox'. We as a group stress the issue of 'Historical Accuracy', and will not accept a 'that will do' attitude, so items purchased must be as 'Authentic' as possible. Our group has a listing of dealers (listed separately upon this site as 'Uniform & Equipment Vendors') whom we recommend, as we feel they meet the 'Historical Accuracy' and 'Authenticity' standards we have set for required uniform and equipment items. In order to save the individual from any unnecessary extra expense (due to an item purchased not being suitable), we do request that we are consulted before any purchase is made. Older standing members of the group are always available to answer any questions that the individual may have. Alternatively if the situation is where no '2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers' members are on hand to be contacted in person, the individual can submit a 'General Information Request Form', which can be found at the end of this website in the 'Contact Us' section.
